I use a tracking sheet for the unit. All assignments for the unit are listed on the tracker, as well as Canvas. As students complete activities and lessons, they check off on the tracker, and note the date of completion. At the end of the unit students grade themselves on the tracker, and turn in the tracker along with all assignments from the unit as a packet.

What aspects of blended learning are already an active part of your teaching practice?
I utilize technology, and motivate student agency all the time. I also provide some opportunities for Student Choice as well as some variable due dates

What is an area or two for which you would need to develop your practice?
Keeping up with the Canvas shells are difficult. If I only had one or two classes it wouldn’t be so bad, but managing 6 different Canvas Courses becomes overwhelming especially as due dates and assignments are constantly changing in all 6 courses. This causes me to not effectively communicate my expectations to students that miss the classes.

Using the discussion board, respond to the following prompts:

Which of the blended learning models will work best for your students? Explain why.
Visualize your classroom with the model that you selected. What might it look and sound like for the teacher and students?

The HyFlex model will work the best for sure, I need as much flexibility with learning as possible. With the constant classroom interruptions, and scheduling of assemblies, absences, and sports students are OFTEN missing instructional time. HyFlex lets me teach the way I want to teach, while still allowing the students to engage with the content at a different time.

The main way this looks, is that we will utilize technology in the classroom, both to access information and submit assignments. Assignments can be due online, with worksheets available online, and learning resources, and a calendar of assignments also available on online.

Initially I thought blended learning was a great idea, and seemed to solve a lot of the issues that we run into with students being absent, or asynchronous. My definition of blended learning is to utilize digital resources to supplement the classroom experience. It is kind of a balancing act between an online course and an in person course. Utilizing the best parts of each.
