What does the station rotation model look and sound like in your classroom from the student perspective? What about the teacher perspective?

From the student perspective, station rotation is engaging in a variety of tasks of the lesson taken. It could be independently working on task to reinforce the skills learned, going through advance materials or doing projects that is relevant to the lesson, being with the teacher for one on one instruction, or with other students working as partner or group. Students in this strategy can be involved in different stations at different time.
For teacher’s perspective it means that less student to interact with thus increasing the amount of time to help or teach diverse learners.

I want the technology-based station. I have tried IXL before, Students liked it. With each student have their own chrome book they are able to move independently. You can see frustrations because if they mess up with a question or two, they have to recover points and at some instance, questions getting challenging.

I have not used ALEKS before but I have seen students working on the same platform. I want to try it.

As a teacher I love defining and setting up space. I feel better moving from one group to another where less obstruction is on may way. With groups set up the right way, rotating students physically would be efficient.

    • What does the station rotation model look and sound like in your classroom from the student perspective?

Station Rotation is a learning process where there diverse opportunities for the students to dive into and move forward to master the lessons. In addition to these diverse opportunities, students are also able to collaborate to their peers, ask questions, compare strategies to deal and solve problems and most of all have a less busy teacher available for help.
    • What about the teacher perspective?

As a teacher, the variety of stages the students are learning or working on the materials can be overwhelming but with time getting use to the process is very convenient. This is also an opportunity to have interactions and constant one-on-one communication which would rarely happen in a traditional classroom setting. I am excited to see more collaboration between students. A teacher who listens and observe would have an instant formative data.

Computer-Based Instruction. With technology, the teacher can get timely feedback. With appropriate data teacher is able to determine who needs help, what help do they need and who would need it. It would also provide information of who students would have to move on to the next level or have these advance students create real-life project relevant to what they learning.

Teacher facilitate discussions or reporting with the small group about the lesson being covered. During this time teacher will act as facilitator while students are leading the conversation and reporting can be done by this little group to the class.

“Transistioning from a traditional in person teacher to one in a hybrid world has been a tough trick for this old dog to learn. These might give a great entree into effective asynchromous learning.”

Im with with you buddy. I have been in that feeling and I am still transitioning. lol

What are you most excited to try with playlists and hyperdocs?
I am excited that with Playlist and hyperdocs, I will, for the first time in my teaching career, have almost all digital resources for my students and myself. I am looking at how convenient would it be once I master the process.

How might playlists and hyperdocs impact your students?
With the goal that my students will set at the beginning of the school year, the variety of ways they can learn the material and the freedom to pace themselves with playlist and hyperdoc. I believe that with the way our school is set up playlist and hyperdoc are the way for students’ success.

I pick up the video below because I thought that it works better for me. Being new to hyperdoc, it might be useful. I got the chance to browse few hyperdoc examples but I feel that I can make use of the video information first before I immerse myself deeply to examples.

    • What are some methods you have used with students who need extra time on classwork?
All students get support by coming to the online sessions – Office Hours & Synchronous Sessions. During this session, students who needs extra time can get support for the classwork or view materials embedded in the lesson on canvas.
    • What are some methods you use for those who finish early?
Students who finished early may proceed to do advance lessons also available in canvas. Videos and materials can guide students of the fundamentals of the lessons. During the office hours, these students can also ask questions or help. During the class, students who completed their work early usually helped other students. Extra credit are given to these students.
