One challenge I experienced with math fluency in my classroom was the varying levels of foundational understanding among students. Some grasped concepts quickly, while others struggled with basic number sense, which slowed their problem-solving abilities. It was also difficult to keep all students equally engaged, especially during repetitive practice.
To help each student improve, I focus on differentiated instruction—using games, manipulatives, and timed challenges tailored to their current level. Integrating fun, low-pressure digital tools helps build confidence. In fact, incorporating light brain breaks with engaging games like the title Snow Rider can refresh students mentally and keep them motivated throughout the learning process.
