in reply to: Station Rotation Ideas #1544

I am teaching mathematics. most of the time, I am using a teacher-led station. I explain the concepts through PPT and ask students to submit their work through Padlet. I give feedback on their padlet. Sometimes, for unfinished work, I asked my student to continue at home and may discuss it with their peers. I give free choice for students to work with and then They may upload their work through padlet.

    @Andrea480
: thank you for sharing EPIC. I just knew from you.
@Heatherfrost: I agree for unfinished activities we can ask students to continue at home with their peers.

    Student’s perspective:
teacher-led station: Students follow the guidance of the teacher.
collaborative station: students have a chance to share their knowledge with peers. they need to be active to lead, involve, and manage the discussion.

    Teacher’s perspective:
teacher-led station: Teachers should prepare the guided instructions for every station clearly. Teachers should be ready for every material needed in each station. teachers also should be aware of activities that will be used to cater the student’s needs.
collaborative station: teachers should know students very well in order to assign the team leader to lead the discussion in every station.

I use teacher-led every day but sometimes I am using a collaborative station integrated during my class.

I am not using hyperdocs and playlists right now so I can not share mine. I will learn from everyone’s posts.

I also found the site called https://www.hyperdocs.co/blog/posts/samples-of-hyperdocs-for-every-subject
here, I got a lot of ideas to apply to my lesson. I really like the idea of tic-tac-toe hyperdocs, I think students have more choices on what to do and they become more engage.

in reply to: Playlist Concerns #1539

One concern about the playlist, students tend to finish the lessons as fast as possible thus students’ work didn’t meet the expectation. I have a tip for students who are not following the playlist, just turns into game-based learning.

    Answer the following questions:

What are some methods you have used with students who need extra time on classwork?
I asked my student to continue at home or after school.
What are some methods you use for those who finish early?
I checked those students who already finished and if there are no mistakes, I asked my students to be my assistant to help others.

in reply to: Your Flipped Lesson Plan #1537

    Your post should include:

A description of your lesson and approach to flipping:
I will explain permutation and combination in mathematics. The permutation is an arrangement of a set of objects for which the order of the objects is important. The combination is the order of selection that is unimportant when a selection is made from a set of objects.

An explanation of how your flipped lesson incorporates multiple levels of thinking.
I Plan to create a video with several examples about permutation and combination. I will add questions to follow up on the video lesson. For every example, matching which question is combination/permutation. I also give some questions to be discussed in the class with their peers.

2-3 steps you would take to implement a flipped-classroom approach in your classroom

I should prepare everything before class. I should make sure all the equipment and materials are working and ready to use. second, I told students to be responsible for their own learning by giving some explanation/video. third, I explain some concepts and ask the student to do self-practice and give time also for discussion.

1-2 obstacles or challenges you might encounter when flipping your classroom

The main obstacle is to make sure students watch the videos

I explain the concept with MS.Teams and ask students to submit their work through Padlet. I can check and give feedback in real-time. I also know who participates and who doesn’t. this is to make sure students have involved in the activity.

in reply to: Practicing Blended Learning #1534

What aspects of blended learning are already an active part of your teaching practice?
Focus on teaching quality: In a blended class, I give clear explanations, use scaffolding and feedback, and provide an adequate assessment.

What is an area or two for which you would need to develop your practice?
Prioritize peer interaction: I realize, I don’t give much time to my student to interact with their peers. Most of the time, I ask them to do it individually.

in reply to: Blended Learning Models #1493

Which of the blended learning models will work best for your students? Explain why.
Based on our current condition, I am using the Hybrid flexible models because we have a lot of students in one class. we need to accommodate all students while they need to do physical distancing.

Visualize your classroom with the model that you selected. What might it look and sound like for the teacher and students?
The teacher will prepare a similar activity and lesson for both students at school and at home. the teacher should share their focus and attention with students at school and at home. Some activities required students at school to bring their gadgets and use online apps so they can interact with students at home. teachers also need to choose a proper platform to accommodate both students at school and at home.

in reply to: Defining Blended Learning #1492

I would rate myself at 4 for blended learning. I am familiar and comfortable with that.

What are your initial thoughts about blended learning? my initial thought is blended learning is the combination of both online and offline learning.
How do you define blended learning? Blended learning required teachers to have a lot of varied skills and techniques to accommodate learners. Teachers should be creative in delivering the material to students.
