I used number talks and visual models like ten frames and number lines to build number sense in my classroom. It helped students become more confident in explaining their thinking and trying different strategies. One thing I learned is that consistent practice really helps solidify mental math skills. Funny enough, the strategic thinking reminded me of playing the game space waves — anticipating patterns and making quick decisions!
