If students are fluent in math or demonstrate math fluency, they can quickly and accurately come to the answer when presented with a math fact, and be able to employ various strategies that represent number sense in order to come to those conclusions.
Number sense includes a students’ ability to reason with numbers, and understand operations, etc. conceptually, rather than being fluent in math through rote memorization.

Math fluency is the ability to use facts to solve problems quickly and accurately. Number sense allows students to understand the relationships between numbers and operations conceptually. Both are necessary for math success.

Number sense is knowing how numbers work together. Math fluency is the ability to recall math facts quickly.

Number sense is making sense of numbers, having an understanding of numbers and how they work together. Fluency is having the skill to carry out procedures flexibly, accurately, efficiently and appropriately.

Number sense is a fundamental skill that encompasses a deep understanding of numerical relationships. It goes beyond simply memorizing facts and figures; it involves the ability to comprehend how numbers relate to one another and how they can be manipulated to solve problems. When a person has a strong number sense, they are able to see patterns, make connections, and draw conclusions based on their understanding of numerical relationships.

Numerical fluency is having the mathematical understanding to find the most efficient way of expressing, and then solving, a problem.

Number sense is the awareness of numbers. Math fluency is the ability to solve math problems automatically.
