ParticipantI choose a social studies lesson on The Declaration of Independence for US History. Students would first watch a video explaining the context and reviewing the document. Then they would complete exercises in annotation and analysis. In small groups, they would discuss those. As a teacher, I would assist students who needed it. Then they would complete the assessment.

ParticipantIn order to learn more about my students and have them learn about each other, I would have each of them create and share a word art of their interests and anything they want to share about themselves. I will make one too and share and discuss it.

ParticipantI currently teach only virtual students, but some of my students take courses in person in other subject areas. This means that I have to be aware that my students are not all working only at home, and aware of the schedules they might have. For example, students may not be able to attend my live lessons or answer when I call, because they are on campus.

ParticipantIn my previous school, we used the multitrack model. While it was very flexible, students did not have as much interaction and it was harder for the teachers because we often had to divide our attention between students in the classroom and those working at home. Currently, I work with digital and digital plus students so some do go into the classroom, but not with me. I think having a clear separation is better.

ParticipantI feel that I am pretty comfortable with blended learning. I have worked in online and hybrid programs for much of my career. I define blended learning as a combination of in person and digital instruction. I feel that in many ways this is more effective than either alone, especially for some students.
