in reply to: Playlist Concerns #3785

My major concern is that some students will take extra time for the play list or will not be able to take expected amount on the playlist. I wonder if they go for work duplication and cheating.

I give my students extra time as log as they are understanding and learnhing.
I allow them for school district approved high level online learning apps which help them to work independently.

I have been using “flipped” classroom model but didn’t know the term for this particular activity.
I created the videos using modeling to giving instruction strategies for the students.
To make it simple, I chunked the topic and after every short video , put up the question .
It takes a lot of time to create the lessons, and model them but it is awesome when the students try and they come out with great work.

A description of your lesson and approach to flipping
An explanation of how your flipped lesson incorporates multiple levels of thinking.

As a middle school teacher , I find Flipped classroom an awesome way to model Literature topic to students. In the flipped class, students are able to access the content in the form of recorded videos and enough material which they can access at hnome and create their response.

The flipped lesson plan is for my 6th graders. I will record a video modeling the Central Idea and Theme – difference between a theme and central idea . I will explain what is a theme and what is central idea and how can the students differentiate them using examples and supporting details by graphic organisers.

Next, students will be expected to watch the video before coming to class and then respond the questions assigned based on identifying the examples of theme and central idea.

At the centers, students will read and identify whether it is a theme and central idea.

This will help students develop their critical thinking and work in collaboration with small group of students.

What aspects of blended learning are already an active part of your teaching practice?
What is an area or two for which you would need to develop your practice?
I use Station / Centers Rotation Blended Learning in my classroom and I am glad it works so well.
I definitely would like to adapt various strategies to make learning more meaningful which can edge the students fully. like Flipped Classroom Rotation Blended Learning.

I would practice more for WE DO / teachers students work which will help students to work deeper on the topic.

Which of the blended learning models will work best for your students? Explain why.
    * Split A/B model works the best for my class. I think it helps my students fully enganged and to keep class sizes small and manageable. It also decreases the workload and allows me to connect my students with one on one and dive for deeper level.

“Celebrating Dot Day” lesson is the one which I would like to adapt for my students. My students are 6th graders but In ELA- the strategies and modeling are used for Key details, main idea, theme Writing, and presenting narratives and In Science – Planning and carrying out investigations
Cause and effect make my students learn both the subjects equally.

The teacher’s focus can be problem solving, and creativity which can be embedded with STEM topic and strategies. Adding new concept with the students’ proir knowledge can be a collaborative work.

As a middle school ELA teacher, I will adapt the plan to give my students the best. They will pick a topic from Science subject ” Water Cycle ” and embed it with vocabulary and create a travel brochure ( document ) so they can undersatnd the Water Cycle and its system using specific terms .
