I think that many students don’t like to produce and think on “their own.” Many times students just want to know what they have to do to complete the assignment. They want their hands held and them led to the answer. I try to do what I call “free writes” often in my Spanish 2 classes. Students sure don’t like them, but they need pushed to produce on their own.
