      As a student:
I believed either you were good at math or not. I was not good at math.
I was told I needed to just memorize the rules.
I was told we learn from our mistakes.
I did not believe math was an exploration or creative.
I did believe it was all about getting the right answer.
      As an educator:
I believe anyone can master math though it comes easier for some.
I still feel you need to memorize math rules.
      I know we learn mistakes.
I know that creativity and exploration is important in mastering math problems. You can solve a problem more than one way.
I feel learning the process is more important than just getting the correct answer.

Mathematics is Computation. I see this as accurate as both a student and a teacher. There is computation involved.

Math is just memorizing rules. As a student, I would agree, but as a teacher I see there is more than just memorization.

You are either good at math or bad at math. Again, as a student I would have said yes, but as a teacher, I would say anyone could improve their math skills.

Math is just about getting the right answer. Again, as a student I would have said yes, but as a teacher, I would say the process is just as important in math.

Math is creative. As a student I would disagree but as a teacher, I see it.

Math is exploration. As a student, I wouldn’t have thought this, but as a teacher, I agree.

There are many ways to problem solve. Again, as a student, I wouldn’t have thought this, but as a teacher, I agree.

Mistakes help our learning. Again, as a student, I wouldn’t have thought this, but as a teacher, I agree.

Mathematics is Computation. Students do see math as computation. As a teacher I can see how students have to remember the rules and steps for solving problems.

Math is just memorizing rules. Students believe this to be true. As a teacher I see it as only part of math.

You are either good at math or bad at math. Student will say they are bad at math because they have a difficult time with math. As a teacher, all students can learn math at any level.

Math is just about getting the right answer. Students do wan the answer only. They do not want to see the application. As a teacher I want to see both.

Math is creative. Students may not wish to be creative if they do not have the experience to solve the problem. As a teacher, I want my stuents to be creative.

Math is exploration. Some students enjoy exploring new math ideas. I as a teacher enjoy teaching new methods to solve problems.

There are many ways to problem solve. Some students can see this as an opportunity to learn the concept. I as a teacher provide those opportunities.

Mistakes help our learning. Some students may become disappointed in getting the wrong answer. I see it as learning.

As a student, I viewed math with a mythical mindset. Now as a teacher, I view math with a growth mindset for my students, providing them with strategies to find the solution.
